Denise Mary Dunlop, never met a stranger
Denise Mary Dunlop, 65, passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024. She was born March 24, 1959, in Manchester, UK, to Jane “Joan” Josephine and the late Henry “Harry” Hughes. Denise's life was one characterized by love, adventure, friendship, and joy.
Denise grew up in Manchester, where she met the love of her life, Dave Dunlop. They married in 1986 and spent 38 wonderful years together traveling the world, raising a beautiful family, and keeping warm, sociable homes in England, Virginia, and most recently, Milton.
Denise is survived by her husband; their son, Daniel Dunlop of Manchester, UK; her mother, Joan; two sisters, Anne Smith (Steve) and Josephine Kennedy (Chris), also of Manchester; close friends, Angie Petti and Carlene Watson of West Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Denise embraced life with an open heart, sharp wit, and infectious sense of humor. Her friends say she never met a stranger; she could talk to anyone for hours, and if she liked you, a lifetime. She was a beachgoer, an avid tennis fan, a globetrotter, and a night owl. She treasured her shih tzu, Brandi, had a fondness for English tea and bacon sandwiches, and never started her day without a Starbucks coffee.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m.
