Henlopen Acres property owners went to the polls Aug. 31 and re-elected incumbent Commissioners Beatrix ‘Paddy’ Richards and Tiffany Derrickson.
Derrickson, who grew up in and is a resident of Henlopen Acres, was the high vote getter with 126. She was first elected to the commission in 2021.
Richards has served as a nonresident commissioner since she was first appointed in 2007. She finished second with 113 votes.
Resident candidate Ann Cameron finished third with 94 votes, while nonresident candidate Alex Jacobs finished fourth with 47 votes.
In all, 199 people voted in the election.
Henlopen Acres was incorporated as a town in 1970. At the conclusion of her new term, Richards will have been a commissioner for 20 consecutive years, which means she will have been a commissioner for roughly 35 percent of the town’s history – 20 of 57 years.
The swearing-in of Derrickson and Richards for their 3-year terms will take place during the town's organizational meeting in town hall, 104 Tidewaters, at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 13.
