The Dewey Beach Civic League will host a town commissioner candidates forum at 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave.

Incumbent council members, Mayor Bill Stevens and Commissioner Gary Persinger, are the only candidates so far to file for the two open seats in this year’s municipal election, set for Saturday, Sept. 21.

The forum will go on whether or not the election is deemed necessary; the election will not be held if the two incumbents are the only candidates to file to run by the Thursday, Aug. 22 filing deadline.

Immediately following, the civic league will hold its annual membership meeting, during which members will elect officers to lead the organization in the coming year. Additionally, Town Manager Bill Zolper and Police Chief Constance Speake will speak about the latest developments in town.

The Dewey Beach Civic League meets at 9 a.m. every Friday for breakfast at The Starboard. For more information, call league President Diane Hanson at 610-322-8527.
