Dewey Beach Civic League thanks volunteers

The Dewey Beach Civic League held a happy hour with Dewey in Bloom at Grotto Pizza June 20, to recognize the many volunteers involved with the new beautification initiative.

The occasion was also a good opportunity for people in Dewey to get to know each other, said Civic League President Diane Hanson. 

“Part of the civic league's mission is to help build a sense of community, and I believe we accomplished that,” Hanson said. “There were approximately 35 people in attendance, and they all seemed to have a very good time.”

Civic league and Dewey in Bloom volunteers met May 4 to gather flowers and supplies and fill 28 planters throughout town. The group received $20,000 in donations that funded the purchase of large self-watering planters and a variety of annuals from Pepper’s Greenhouse in Milton.
