Dewey Beach Liquors 5K attracts 520 runners

27 runners break the 20-minute mark

A total of 520 runners showed up and showed out on the Fourth of July for the Dewey Beach Liquors 5K, starting at the Rusty Rudder with the Rehoboth Bay as a backdrop.

Owen Nahf, a 21-year-old cross country and track guy at Moravian College, led a fast field that featured 27 runners breaking 20 minutes. Nahf won with a time of 15:43. 

Natalie Lutz, 42, of Hockessin was the overall women's winner in 19:24. Brian Flynn, 41, was second overall and first masters in 15:52. Michelle Simon, 45, of Cleveland, Ohio, won the female masters title in 21:12. 

Bobby Hutton, 60, continued his stellar season, running 19:48 to capture his age group. Rick “Rubberband Man” Poppleton, 71, captured his age group in 24:18. Austin Rhue, 20, running with Jeff Jablon, 48, helped “Jabs” to a personal best of 27:53.
