Donald J. Passwaters, veteran, DuPont retiree

Donald J. Passwaters of Milton passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the care of hospice at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington.

Donald was born in Milton to his parents, Rufus and Rose (Forst) Passwaters. He was a lifelong resident of Sussex County. He worked at E.I. DuPont Company in Seaford as a machinist, where he retired in 1992. He enjoyed farming, growing pole beans, crabbing, and fishing. Donald also served in the U.S. Air Force. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Cox) Passwaters; his daughter, Lisa (Passwaters) Brown and his grandson, Joseph Hnosko.

He is survived by his daughter, Leslee Hnosko (David Vickers); brother-in-law Ed Cox (Carol); his grandchildren, Justin White and Ryan Brown; and great-granddaughter, Kendall White. 

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton. A time of visitation for friends and family will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.
