Doris J. McDonald, woman of faith

Doris J. McDonald passed away peacefully at home Thursday, April 14, 2022.

Doris was born Jan. 14, 1932, in Takoma Park, Md. She was a nurturing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, “Aunt Joanie” to many, and a friend to all.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, including all the fur babies in the house, though she sometimes pretended they irritated her.  She enjoyed her family, serving the Lord and babysitting.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, John J. McDonald Sr., and one son, Michael C. McDonald.  She is survived by daughter-in-law Michelle McDonald; sons John J. McDonald Jr. (Louise), Kevin D. McDonald (Deborah) and Todd A. McDonald (Pamela). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Christopher McDonald (Shannon), Kristi Berk (Ari), Tanya Hartman (Richie), Mareesa Welch (Justin), Olivia Allread (Forest), Mallory McDonald, Devon McDonald and Baylee McDonald; and her great-grandchildren, Colin McDonald, Madison McDonald, Wolf Allread and Lark Allread.  Doris will also be fondly remembered by her caregiver, Laura Walker.  The family would like to extend special thanks to Delaware Hospice for their role in helping Doris continue her journey, and for assisting the family during a difficult time.

Funeral service and burial will be private at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Md. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
