Dorothea F. Thomasson, adored the theater

Dorothea F. Thomasson, 94, of Lewes passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes.  She was born Dec. 12, 1925, in Salisbury, N.C., daughter of the late Paul and Mabel Fulenwider.

Mrs. Thomasson was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C., class of 1947.  It was there she earned bachelor's degrees in chemistry and biology, thus beginning a career in molecular pathology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.  Mrs. Thomasson adored the theater.  She was a talented actress, involved in many Washington, D.C. community theater productions in the 1960s and 1970s, as well as an avid writer and skilled artist.  Above all, Mrs. Thomasson cherished time spent with those she held most dear.  She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomasson was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis S. Thomasson Jr.;  and her daughter, Bille Sykes-Pachacek.  She is survived by her son, George Thomasson of Lewes; her daughter, Roberta Ater of Rehoboth Beach; her five grandchildren;  and her five great-grandchildren.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs. Thomasson will be privately laid to rest at St. Peter's Pilottown Cemetery, Lewes.  Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
