Dorothy Anna Coma, caring nurse

January 22, 2024

Dorothy Anna Coma, 88, of Lewes, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, after a battle with cancer at AccentCare Hospice at Wilmington Hospital in Wilmington. She was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late John Edmond and Dorothy Cecilia (Boyle) Iacampo.

A natural caregiver, Dorothy’s life was as a registered nurse, and she dedicated many years to her career and helping others, working for Riddle Hospital in Media, Pa. Her favorite pastimes included reading, she loved Clive Cussler's books, and crocheting, especially blankets and scarves. She frequently enjoyed a good game of pinochle with friends and family. Dorothy enjoyed everything that coastal living had to offer, enjoying the time spent on the beach, making many happy memories, soaking up the sun and listening to the waves. She enjoyed going to lunches and socializing with her many Red Hat Society friends. More than anything, she loved spending time with those she held most dear. Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and will be deeply missed by those who were blessed to have known her.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband, Anthony S. Coma; her second husband, Robert C. Blair; her son, Anthony S. Coma III; her daughter, Marie Antionette Coma Kefford; and her sister, Patricia C. LaChance. She is survived by her grandchildren,  Anthony Coma IV and Stephanie Luker, both of California; her brother-in-law, James LaChance of Swarthmore, Pa.; daughter-in-law, Terri Coma of De Berry, Texas; and her nieces, Elaine Melchiorre of Malvern, Pa., and Elizabeth Kunz of Downingtown, Pa.

Final care for Ms. Coma has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
