Dorothy E. Villone, loved family, friends

Dorothy (Dot) E. Villone, 88, of Lewes, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Dot grew up in Chatham, N.J., and was a 1952 graduate of Chatham High School and the Katherine Gibbs School.  She worked as a manager for Chubb Insurance for more than 40 years before retiring to Lewes in 1996.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart Sam, to whom she was married for almost 70 years. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Bennett of Chatham; her brother, John Bennett and his wife Ann, also of Chatham; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Aubrey Bennett; and her sister Patricia Domanski.

For many years, Dot and Sam enjoyed planning their high school reunions, including the Chatham Great Reunions. Dot loved spending time with her friends and family. She and Sam hosted many crab feasts at their home. She especially enjoyed annual beach vacations at the Jersey Shore with her sisters and lifelong friends. Later in life, her greatest joy was helping raise her grandnephew, Bennett, whom she loved and cherished. 

The family will host an open house in her honor from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 22, at their home, 23809 Gull Circle.
