Dorothy L. Dukes, faithful church member
Dorothy L. Dukes, 73, of Millsboro, formerly of Dover, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024.
Dorothy was born in Dover Sept. 21, 1950, daughter of the late Millard Hutchins and the late Edith (Harry) Hutchins. She was a 1969 graduate of Caesar Rodney High School. Dorothy retired from Delaware Division of Printing & Publishing in December 2006 after 37 ½ years of service.
Dorothy was a member and former usher at First Baptist Church in Dover, and faithfully attended Dagsboro Church of God, where she had also served as a greeter and usher. She will be remembered as a tender-hearted and compassionate woman who loved listening to Southern gospel music, watching classic TV, and having a heart for animals.
She is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Wayne A. Dukes.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Carey’s Cemetery in Frankford.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name to Dagsboro Church of God, 32224 DuPont Blvd., Dagsboro, DE 19939.
