Douglas Wayne Barber, mechanic, Elks member
Douglas (Doug) Wayne Barber, 82, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, with his wife, Kelly, by his bedside.
Doug was born in Durham, N.C., and lived in Springfield/ Fairfax, Va., until he and his wife, Kelly, retired to Lewes in 2013. He was well known for being the No. 1 mechanic in Northern Virginia, having worked as the managing mechanic at Ravensworth Mobil/Sunoco for over 40 years.
Doug was a proud member of Cape Henlopen Elks 2540 and an active member of the Coastal Corvette Club of Delaware.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Barber.
Doug is survived by his wife, Kelly Barber; daughter, Tina Todd (Steve) of Minnesota; grandchildren, Thomas and Trea; sisters, Sylvia McDorman (Danny) and Joyce Burbeck of Virginia; mother, Nancy O'Neill; brother-in-law, Brady O'Neill of New Jersey; and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life and Elks service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge, Lewes.
