Doy Dennis Seabolt Jr., proud Army veteran
Doy Dennis Seabolt Jr., 73, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in Millsboro. Dennis was born Feb. 6, 1951, in Baltimore, Md., to the late Doy D. Seabolt Sr. and Mary Juanita Seabolt.
Dennis Seabolt grew up in Baltimore, where he graduated from Kenwood High School and pursued further education at Towson College before answering the call of duty to serve his country during the Vietnam War. As a proud Army veteran, he returned home to embark on a successful career as a boilermaker with Union Local 193.
After a fulfilling first career, Dennis didn't settle into a quiet retirement; instead, he pursued a second career as an engineering technician at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. After 16 productive years at the USNA, he retired with the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, George and Doyle Seabolt. His legacy lives on through his wife of 35 years, Tracey Leigh Seabolt; his son, Doy D. Seabolt III (Erin) of Abingdon, Md; his daughter, Kimberly Franke (Dale) of Perry Hall, Md.; his sister, Karen Taylor of Baltimore, Md.; his two grandchildren, Haley Seabolt and Brandon Franke; and several nieces and nephews.
Dennis embraced life in Millsboro for the past seven years, having previously resided in Edgewater, Md. He was known for his love of a good cigar and a cold beer, and his passion for golfing, boating, and riding his Harley, as well as his talent for photography. His happiest moments were spent with his wife; his beloved English bulldog, Cujo; and his USNA midshipmen student family.
Dennis’ commitment to service extended to his involvement with American Legion Post 28 of Millsboro and Post 226 of Edgewater, Md., where he shared camaraderie and support with fellow veterans.
He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
A memorial gathering will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, July 1, at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. A celebration of life in Annapolis, Md., will be announced at a later date.
In Mr. Seabolt's memory, the family requests giving the gift of life by donating blood to a local blood bank if able or making a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.
