Dr. Bhaskar Palekar joins TidalHealth Primary Care in Lewes
TidalHealth Primary Care in Lewes recently welcomed Bhaskar Palekar, MD, FACP, to the practice.
Board certified in internal medicine, Palekar spent several years in private practice, then joined Beebe Healthcare, where he was president and then chief of the medical staff. He also served on Beebe’s board of directors and was chairman of the board from 1992-97.
Among his many accolades, he received the Laureate Award of the American College of Physicians, Delaware chapter. Because of his decades-long commitment to providing quality healthcare to Sussex County, Palekar received an honorary tribute from Gov. John Carney. In 2023, Palekar received the Physician Philanthropy Award from Beebe Medical Foundation.
Palekar received his medical degree from LTM Medical College at Bombay University in Bombay, India, and completed his internal medicine residency at the Episcopal campus affiliated with Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was chief resident his last two years. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and has served as the specialty representative on its medical society board of trustees. Palekar also belongs to several other societies including the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians. He has served as a Sussex County delegate for many years with the Medical Society of Delaware.
When Palekar is not seeing patients, he enjoys gardening, spending time with his family, and watching his favorite football team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
