Eagles win easily

December 20, 2024

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles were able to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers by the score of 27-13. So much for the supposed controversy about the Eagles’ passing game. A.J. Brown had a very successful first half, and Devonta Smith contributed like he always does. I am somewhat worried about Saquon Barkley‘s health because it was clear during the second half of the game that he was banged up and the team was not telling anybody about it. The defense is continuing to play very well, and if the Eagles can win their 11th in a row this week against the Washington Commanders, they will win the division. Go Eagles!

I think it is silly for the NFL to insist on playing games on Christmas considering it is on Wednesday this year. They had never played games on Wednesdays outside the COVID years. I hope nobody gets seriously hurt from lack of rest time because football is an incredibly violent sport.

Major League Baseball free agency is in full swing. It seems like the Yankees and Mets are picking up most of the notable players so far. I think they are trying to create another subway World Series like 2000 when they faced each other. I hope the Phillies eventually decide to acquire someone significant who is new, to give their players and fans hope that they are trying to compete to make it to the fall classic along with the  Yankees, Mets and Dodgers. I’ve heard rumors about the Phillies interest in Los Angeles Dodgers free agent outfielder Teoscar Hernandez. We definitely need some more outfield hitting power.

In local sports, I plan to attend some of the Cape Henlopen basketball games this year even though there’s no Slam Dunk to the Beach tournament over the holidays. Let’s see if the girls’ basketball team can make it to the state playoffs again this year. I don’t have the same expectations for the boys’ team, but we’ll see.

Happy holidays everyone!
