The early days of Milton High School

October 8, 2024

Well before the new and improved Milton Elementary School opened on Federal Street, teenagers of Milton attended high school in the same building. Constructed in 1939, the school served the communities teens until it was consolidated with Lewes and Rehoboth Beach to form Cape Henlopen School District. This undated monochrome postcard shows a sketch of what Milton High School looked like in its early days. It actually looks pretty similar to what it is today. Prior to Mariner Middle School opening in 2003, the school served as a junior high. Construction on a $30 million renovation project was completed in time for the 2021 school year.
