Welcome to Delaware, set for July 20, is designed to familiarize gardeners new to the area with local seasonal attributes and soil conditions to enable them to successfully grow beautiful annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees.

Ornamental Grasses will be the July 27 topic. Summer is a great time to learn about ornamental grasses when most are in their full glory. The time is also perfect for planting. Participants will see examples of various varieties with different options in size, foliage color and flower/plume/seed head color, and learn about native and non-native species.

Perennial Maintenance will be offered Aug. 3. Perennials are a great option for the home landscape because they come back every year, so seasonal replanting isn’t necessary. There are still important maintenance tasks required to ensure successful plant growth and health. Participants will learn about seasonal blooming, deadheading techniques, fertilization, winter care and division.

The Succulent Make and Take Class, set for Aug. 10, begins with a demonstration lecture to familiarize attendees with the with use of succulents in containers. Each participant will assemble a succulent planter to take home. The cost of the class is $25.

Propagation will be the topic Aug. 17. Participants will learn about selecting plants for propagation, and how to make a cutting and care for it. Propagation using varying plant types and techniques will be demonstrated.
