Eastern Sussex Democrats announce RD36 endorsement

The Eastern Sussex Democratic Club announced its endorsement of Rony Baltazar-Lopez for election to the Delaware legislature from Representative District 36, comprising parts of Milford, Milton, Ellendale and Slaughter Beach.

A native of Milford and educated in the Milford School District, Baltazar-Lopez currently serves as director of legislative affairs and communications for the Delaware Department of State.

A graduate of the University of Delaware, he is the first in his family to attend college. Baltazar-Lopez holds a master’s degree in public administration, and has served internships with Sen. Tom Carper and Attorney General Kathy Jennings. 

“Rony is exactly the kind of smart, dedicated, and energetic person to lead Delaware into the future,” said Kathy Hughes, president, Eastern Sussex Democratic Club. “He has devoted his life to public service, serving on the Milford School District Board of Education and on the boards of many organizations that improve our lives.” She noted he Baltazar-Lopez serves on numerous executive boards, including the American Civil Liberties Union of Delaware, the Delaware Hispanic Commission, the Delaware Advisory Council on Career and Technical Education, Delaware Center for Inland Bays, the Milford Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, La Red Health Center, the Fort Dupont Redevelopment and Preservation Corporation and the Educational Equity Council.

“Rony represents the values that Democrats hold dear,” said Hughes. “He loves his community and will represent it well in the legislature.”
