Easterseals to host caregiver conference Aug. 28
Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore, with generous support from the Delaware Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities, will host its 14th Annual Easterseals Caregiver Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Harrington Fire Hall, 20 Clark St., Harrington. Caregivers will also have an option to log in virtually.
You’re a Caregiver - Give Yourself a Hand is this year’s conference theme. Topics are pertinent for anyone providing care for loved ones of all ages, but the focus is on those caring for adults and seniors. Admission is free.
Highmark Delaware will sponsor the keynote speaker, Deidre Edwards, RN, an author, seminar speaker and founder of Toolkits for Health.
The conference includes a panel featuring caregivers sharing how they find things each day to give themselves a hand as they care for their loved ones, along with a second panel of local experts sharing information about topics related to caregiving. In-person exhibitors will provide resources and information for attendees. To register, call 302-221-2087 or go to tinyurl.com/CaregiverRegistration24.
“Easterseals is proud to support caregivers and their families by offering this annual conference,” said Kenan Sklenar, Easterseals president and CEO. “Caregivers are vital to the people they care for, and the caregiver conference provides the support and tools to help them. We remind caregivers that they also need to care for themselves.”
The Caregiver Conference is one example of the ongoing partnership between Easterseals and DSAAPD to address the growing needs of Delaware caregivers. In addition, the Easterseals Community Outreach Program offers resources and support to caregivers through initiatives including the Caregiver Resource Center, Respite Voucher program, FYI Assistive Technology Financing program and the assistive technology demonstration center.
Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore is leading the way to an inclusive community through its innovative services, which include: children’s therapies, day programs for adults with physical or intellectual disabilities, supported employment, senior services, recreational camping, respite services, and services for caregivers.
