Edward R. Hammond, veteran, longtime carpenter

Edward R. Hammond, 83, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at Bayhealth in Milford.

Edward was born in 1941 in Lewes, son of Nettie Hammond Taylor.

Edward was a 1961 graduate of Rehoboth High School. He served his country honorably and faithfully in the U.S. Army. Edward was a carpenter for Lane Builders in Lewes for many years. He loved to go hunting, fishing, and crabbing. On the weekends, he was known to always be at Wilson’s Auction, looking for a deal.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his wife, Phillis P. Hammond (2014); and two grandsons, Diangelo Joynes Jr. and Thomas Parsons Jr.

He is survived by his children, a daughter, Marlo Joynes and her husband Diangelo Sr.; granddaughter, Marissa Joynes; a daughter, Cindy Bradley; grandson, Hunter Rice; a daughter, Amanda Hammond-Bradley and her husband Brent Bradley; grandsons, Andrew and Alexander Hammond; granddaughter, Maddison Bradley; son, Thomas Parsons; two grandsons, Noah and Joseph Parsons; a daughter, Paula Dill; three grandsons, Jordan, Derek and Austin Dill; and granddaughter, Lindsey Dill.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 16, at Ellendale Fire Hall, 302 Main St., Ellendale. Flowers will be accepted the day of the celebration.
