Edward William Lilley Sr., proud veteran

Edward William Lilley Sr., 78, of Lewes, passed away from lung cancer Friday, June 30, 2023, with his wife of 53 years by his side. He was born May 20, 1945. Edward, also known as Ed or Big Ed, was a big-hearted and beloved man. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Ed is survived by his wife, Kathy (Hay) Lilley; his sons, Richard Edward Lilley of Astoria, N.Y., and Edward W. Lilley Jr. of Dunmore, Pa., and his grandchildren, Porter Lilley, Sadie Lilley and Jacob Lilley, all of the Lehigh Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry O. and Helen Lilley; and his brothers, Harry Lilley and Robert Lilley.

After graduating from Pottsville High School in 1963, Ed served in the Navy in Vietnam from 1965-68. He was proud of his military service and cherished the camaraderie he experienced during his time in the Navy.

Following his military service, Ed had a successful career in machine shop quality control assurance at Air Products and other machine shops in the Lehigh Valley and Berks County. He was known for his attention to detail and dedication to his work.

Ed retired in 2009 and moved to Lewes in 2011 to spend his final years at the beach. Ed was fond of driving his golf cart around the community, loved his many dogs and cats, and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

Ed had donated his remains to Science Care.

A service will be held at Grabowski Funeral Home in Schuylkill Haven, Pa., at a date yet to be determined.

We remember Edward Lilley Sr. for his kind and loving nature, his sense of humor, his commitment to his family and friends, and his dedication to his country and career. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
