Ellen Cash Donovan, talented seamstress, crafter

Ellen Cash Donovan, 73, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with vascular dementia. She was born March 8, 1951, in Millsboro, to the late Marvin and Elva (Dorman) Cash. 

Ellen was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Georgetown. She was employed with Safeway for 17 years, Donovan’s Hardware for five years and Oceanus Motel for 25 years. Ellen was a seamstress who enjoyed sewing, making crafts, and attending craft shows to share her many talents.  Ellen could always be seen at many sporting events for her children and grandchildren but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be missed by many.

Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Martin B. Donovan; children, Matthew Donovan (Aerin) and Marcus Donovan; grandchildren, M. Blake Donovan (Kristen) and Jenna Rae Donovan; great-grandchild, Paislee; siblings, Gary Cash (Vivian), Carolyn Wells, Jeffrey Cash (Gail) and Beverly Mitchell (Donald); and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Her sisters were instrumental in helping provide care until the end. 

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where a time of visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
