Elton Brand and son train in Rehoboth Beach

Former NBA all-star and current Philadelphia 76ers General Manager Elton Brand recently visited Rehoboth Beach, where his son, Elton Peace Brand, trained at the Sussex Family YMCA with former Delaware basketball standout Devin Park. 

Devin and his twin brother Darin Park were both first-team all-state basketball selections in 1981. They are the only two brothers in Delaware high school basketball history to be named to the first team in the same year. They were both inducted into the Delaware Afro-American Sports Hall of Fame in 2023. 

Brand spent 18 seasons in the NBA after being drafted first overall in the first round of the 1999 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. He played collegiate basketball under legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski at Duke. 

Following retirement in 2016, Brand was named as the player development consultant for the Philadelphia 76ers later that year. In 2017, he was named general manager of the Delaware 87ers (now Delaware Blue Coats). In 2018, Brand was promoted to the general manager position for the Philadelphia 76ers.
