Embellishing St. Peter’s statue symbolizes God's love for all

June 21, 2024

Founded in the heart of the Lewes community in 1681, St. Peter's Episcopal Church boasts a rich history of traditions.

One custom that provides a fun and meaningful activity for individuals of all ages is decorating the St. Peter statue on the patio outside the parish hall for various occasions.

In observance of Pride Month, St. Peter was recently adorned with celebratory accents. Without contacting church representatives for permission or discussion, someone removed the decorations and they had to be replaced.

As an LGBTQ+ affirming church, St. Peter’s upholds the values of inclusivity and love for all individuals. St. Peter will continue to wear his Pride regalia as an outward and visible sign of God's all-encompassing love.
