Everett T. Reed Jr., veteran, avid sportsman
Everett T. “Reedy” Reed Jr., 80, passed away suddenly Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at his home in Milton.
Reedy was preceded in death by his father, Everett T. Reed Sr.; his mother, Mary Rickards, both of Lewes; and his sister, Mary Lou Hazzard of Florida. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marie Tolmie; his two sons, Arthur John “Beau” and his wife Maria of Lewes, and Derrick Theodore and his wife Stephanie of Lincoln; and his granddaughters, Savannah Jean and Leena Marie. Reedy is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Paula (Doc) and Tricia (Bruce); and several nieces.
Reedy was born and raised in Lewes - a Beebe baby. He was an active sportsman, loving hunting and fishing, and he was an avid golfer up until a few years ago. Reedy was known for his athletic ability. He played multiple sports at Lewes High School and several years after graduation, he successfully completed the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. Reedy served in Vietnam in the U.S. Army from 1967-69. While serving, he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
He will be missed by his family and his many friends.
