Farmacy Market to offer local, sustainable foods in Milford
Two Milford families, the Shupes and Helmicks, have partnered to create the Farmacy Market, opening soon at 28 S. Walnut St. in downtown Milford. See The Farmacy Market Facebook page for updates.
The market will partner with local Delmarva growers, farmers and artisans with a focus on ethical, sustainable and clean farming practices. The owners will offer a carefully curated selection of fresh, locally grown produce, and responsibly sourced meat and seafood.
Chantel and Patrick Helmick launched their small business Helmick’s Homestead in 2020 with a mission to help their community become healthier. It is a staple of the Riverwalk Farmers Market and makes regular food donations to local organizations.
Sherry and Bryan Shupe have owned Fur Baby Pet Resort in Milford since 2011, growing it into a full-service doggie daycare, overnight and spa. After rehabilitating the former Milford Fertilizer property on the Mispillion River, they began hosting farm families at their shop including Little Wagon Produce and Helmick’s Homestead. These connections led to the creation of The Farmacy Market.
“We are blessed to live in a state and county where we have families that produce nutritious, healthy food right here in our communities,” said Sherry Shupe,
The market will also boast a collection of gourmet kitchen supplies including high-quality cookware, and specialized tools and gadgets.
Embracing the Food is Medicine motto, The Farmacy Market will be a community hub where locals are encouraged to exchange knowledge and ideas.
"We are proud to offer educational resources, cooking demonstrations and workshops on topics such as sustainable farming, nutrition and the art of mindful eating,” said Chantel Helmick. “Our goal is to empower our customers to make informed choices about the food they consume, and to create a positive impact on their health and the environment.”
