Feb. 15 marks 10th anniversary for Dover Downs hotel
The hotel at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino on Feb. 15 will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its opening in 2002. The $75 million project opened with approximately 100 rooms and became fully operational by April 2002 with 232 rooms and suites, indoor pool, sauna, fitness center, 18,000-square-foot Rollins Center column-free ballroom and Michele’s restaurant. Additional construction included a 425-seat Festival Buffet restaurant and a renovation to enclose the harness racing grandstand with a state-of-the-art simulcast facility.
“We are proud to be the hotel and casino mecca in central Delaware for not only our frequent customers, but for out-of-towners and corporate and convention visitors alike,” said Ed Sutor, president and CEO.
In September 2007, the property completed a $52 million expansion project, which included the addition of 268 rooms and luxury spa suites, officially classifying it as the largest hotel in Delaware with 500 rooms and 35,000 square feet of meeting space.
Dover Downs Hotel & Casino will commemorate the hotel’s 10-year anniversary with a special $10 prime rib dinner to be served in several of its restaurants.
Dover Downs Hotel & Casino has received the coveted AAA Four Diamond Award every year since it was applied for in 2003 and continues to improve its offerings with a culture of exceptional customer service and property improvements. The Festival Buffet will begin renovation in April.
