A flock of Sussex County turkeys ready for the holidays

November 23, 2017

This photograph from the mid-1900s shows that Sussex County agriculture isn't just about growing chickens. The Delaware Office of Economic Development made this photograph showing a flock of full-grown turkeys on a Sussex County farm, probably not too long before the Thanksgiving holiday. Domestic turkeys clearly look different from their protectively colored cousins that have rebounded in population in Delaware in the last two decades.
