October 29, 2020

Officials from the Delaware Department of Transportation, Delaware Emergency Management Agency and other state agencies are monitoring the forecast for effects from the remnants of Hurricane Zeta, which could produce heavy rain and flash flooding throughout the day and evening on Oct. 29.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the entire state with the potential of 2 to 4 inches of rain. A wind advisory is in effect from 3 to 8 p.m. with south winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Rain is also in the forecast for the morning of Friday, Oct. 30.

Motorists should not attempt to drive through flooded roads. Report any road hazards to DelDOT’s Transportation Management Center by calling #77, which is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

DelDOT will be monitoring the storm and sharing updates as necessary via social media and WTMC 1380AM. Motorists should have their headlights be on when windshield wipers are in use. DelDOT officials urge residents who live in flood-prone areas to take precautions for possible evacuation and review evacuation routes which are available on DelDOT's website, deldot.gov.
