Food Truck Friday returns to Epworth UMC April 8

April 1, 2016

Food trucks will again roll into Epworth UMC Friday, April 8, on Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth. The twice-monthly fundraiser event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Popular vendors from last year will be back along with some new vendors and new looks.

Rosenfeld’s Roadside Jewish Deli returns with an expanded menu of sandwiches including corned beef, pastrami, turkey, roast beef, chopped liver and whitefish salad. Steve Ruiz, chef/owner of Mojo Loco, has a whole new look. His custom-made trailer was completed in February. Mojo Loco’s menu features an eclectic  variety of street foods, including Asian shrimp tacos, short rib grilled cheese, Cubano and Falafel sandwiches, rice bowls, and loaded fries.

SoDel’s monster food truck, Big Thunder Roadside Kitchen, has a loyal following for its New England lobster roll and crab cake sandwiches. The Polish Connection will return with homemade kielbasa and pierogis. Taco Reho will  make an appearance with mouthwatering tacos like Chicken Tinga, with chipotle, salsa verde, and queso fresco. Chef Billy Lucas has tacos for everyone, including Potato Pablano for those who prefer vegetarian choices.

Po’ Boys Creole Food Truck is new to Food Truck Friday. Chef Mike Clampitt serves authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine including gumbo, oyster, shrimp, and crawfish Po’ Boys, Muffuletta, cornbread, and beignets. Po’ Boys fried brussel sprouts are a customer favorite.

Other returning vendors include Mama Mia, The Frozen Farmer, and Hot Dogs at the Beach. The Frozen Farmer serves sorbet, ice cream, smoothies, root beer floats, and fresh pressed juices.

Event organizers are happy to offer such diverse food choices. “We love diversity,” says Susan Selph.  Reber Whitner adds, “It’s what makes life interesting!”
