Football, football and more football

January 13, 2017

Last weekend ALL of the NFL wild card games were not very competitive. I hope the divisional round this weekend turns out to be a lot more fun to watch. For me, the NFC games will be what I'm paying attention to because Green Bay is playing Dallas in Dallas, and Atlanta plays at home against Seattle. I have decided to cheer for Atlanta to win the Super Bowl this year because they have not won one in their franchise history. It would be cool for them to win because they are moving into a new stadium next year. Lets hope they are still around next week.

With great drama right up to the very end, the college football national championship game on Monday made up for the lackluster group of NFL games. I think it is good for college football as a whole that Clemson beat Alabama in such dramatic fashion on a last-second touchdown pass. They proved that Alabama is not unbeatable. I was only able to watch the first half of the game, because it started at 8:30 Eastern time. I wish ESPN would have started the game at 7 o'clock so that people that don't live on the west coast could have watched the entire game. From what I saw in the first half, Clemson was overwhelmed by the speed of the Alabama defense, which was the strength of their team throughout the season. In the end, there was too much Deshaun Watson and Alabama's offense just simply couldn't score enough points to close out the game completely in the first half when they were up early. The final score was 35-31 Clemson.

My annual trip to the Slam Dunk to the Beach Tournament at Cape was very positive. Lots of good players and nice people. I also want to acknowledge Jake Forrester for posing for a picture with me and my dad at Slam Dunk. Good luck to him and his Westtown PA prep team for the rest of the season. He has a great future in hoops and in life if he stays healthy and focused.
