Former Dewey mayor endorses Simpler

October 18, 2024

We have been fortunate here in the 14th District for the past 20 years with excellent representation from Pete Schwartzkopf, who is retiring.

While he’s difficult to replace, I believe we have a candidate before us who will do a great job – Mike Simpler. I have known Mike for over 30 years, and he has excellent experience to do the job. It is no easy task being a president of a fire department. You have to have a diverse set of communication skills and the ability to bring people together for a common goal. This will serve him/us in Dover very well. As stated previously by well-written letters to the editor going into great detail as to why to vote for Mike and not his opponent, I second those support letters. No reason to be redundant.

It was an honor to serve the citizens of Dewey Beach for 10 years. As in most towns and municipalities, these elections are nonpartisan, meaning you vote the person, not the party. Please take the time to get to know Mike, and I think you will agree with me that he is the person for the job.
