Frances Stephana Patterson, beloved matriarch
Frances S. Patterson (nee Mocarski), 90, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024. She was born June 2, 1934. Fran was the beloved matriarch of her large, loving, and proud Polish family.
Fran was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known by many as “Grammy” and “Ciocia Frances.” She is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Joseph Patterson.
As a longtime resident of Lewes, where she had lived since 1997, Fran was an active member of the community and loved spending time at the beach. She was deeply involved in her church, and dedicated to service at Cape Henlopen Senior Center, where she volunteered for many years. Her kindness, generosity, and sense of humor touched many lives, and her presence will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 16, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Lewes, followed by a Mass at 10:45 a.m. Private interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Fran’s memory be made to the Cape Henlopen Senior Center Building Fund, 11 Christian St., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
