Dewey Beach commissioners voted unanimously June 16 to approve an ordinance to expand the conditional use for Starboard Claw in Dewey Beach.
Restaurant representatives had requested permission to place a pair of two-top tables and one six-top table on the front patio area currently used as a deck.
All conditional-use requirements will be followed, restaurant officials said, including that table service will end at 11 p.m., the adjacent window will be for server use only, and there will be no standing consumption of alcohol in the area.
Wood benches on a lower patio area will be used for patrons waiting to be seated, not for table service.
Starboard Claw, a member of The Starboard group, opened over Memorial Day weekend at 1818 Coastal Highway, Dewey Beach. The new eatery features locally caught seafood, steamed blue crabs, entrees, sandwiches and a kids’ menu, with indoor and outdoor dining. Go to starboardclawdewey.com.
