Fund for Women holds fashion show

The Fund for Women in Sussex County held its seventh annual fashion show April 9 at the Atlantic Sands in Rehoboth Beach with almost 200 people in attendance.

Fund founders and models showcased fashions from Candlelight Bridal in Millsboro, Cleo's and Simply Dressed in Rehoboth Beach, Lady Fenwick in Fenwick Island, and Deanna's and Piccolino, The Cottage and Twila Farrell in Lewes. Models this year were Estee Ciarlone, Lisa Condon, Jeannie Fleming, Sarah Gilmour, Bonnie Johnson, Michelle Leeuwen, Leslie Mergner, Carolyn Newcott, Debbie O'Donnell, Kathy Pizzadili, Marylee Phillips, Sandy Roberts, Dawn Sbriglia, Genevieve Slater, Laura Slater, Pat Tosi and Emily Yeager. Hair and makeup for the models was graciously donated by Bad Hair Day, Ally and Lexi from Bling Salon and Spa, and Kelsey Dunn with Motives. Music was provided by Tyler Collins.

Attendees enjoyed food, drinks, raffles and the fashion show. Raffle tickets for a week-long stay in Florida were sold. The 4-bedroom condo sleeps 12 and is available Friday, Dec. 29, to Friday, Jan. 5. Tickets are $20 and the drawing will be held at the Fund for Women Grants Award Event to be held at the Duncan Center in Dover Thursday, May 18. At the event, it was announced that Sen. Tom Carper delivered a check April 7 in the amount of $325 to the Fund for Women. Carper and his staff donated on behalf of Women's History Month to fund the important programs for women and girls that the FFW supports.

Congratulations go to the 12 new founders who committed to join the Fund for Women. They are Fayetta Blake, Barbara Freimuth, Erlene George, Marie LaRoca, Richard Legatski, Rhonda Lerner, Joanne Oliver, Jane Runey, Angela Showell, Ginny Smith Morris, Dian Stein and Patricia Woll. Congratulations go to new business founder Deanna's and Piccolino from Lewes.

Miss Teen Delaware Kasiyah Tatem spoke about her experience at Pathways to Success.

The Fund for Women mission is that all women and girls are empowered to achieve their potential. The fund is an endowment at the Delaware Community Foundation.
