Funsters bring concerts by canal to a rocking close

September 8, 2022

The place to be Thursday nights this summer was Lewes Canalfront Park. The park’s friends group sponsored a series of Concerts by the Canal culminating with a performance by The Funsters, a favorite of locals, drawing the largest crowd of the season.

That’s nothing new to The Funsters, who have been performing together for more than 20 years, as they bring out large crowds whenever they perform.

The Funsters have their roots in the history of local bands in Sussex County, including Jack of Diamonds, Eighth Day and Kickback.

Canalfront Park, once the location of the city’s boat ramp, officially opened in 2010 and offers not only event space but a kayak launch, fishing pier and marina, and is home to the historic Lightship Overfalls, Lewes Little League and the city’s basketball, tennis and pickleball courts.
