Gail Weeden Yates, enjoyed family time
Gail Weeden Yates, 85, of Jupiter, Fla., passed peacefully in her home Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023. She died of natural causes after a short illness. Gail grew up in Delaware and attended college at Mary Washington University in Virginia, where she found the love of her life and soul mate in Marvin Yates, to whom she was married for 65 years.
Gail married Marvin Jewell Yates of Chicago, Ill., on July 27, 1957 in Media, Pa., and they began their 65-plus-year journey together with their first home in Orange, Calif. After various career moves including homes in Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey, North Carolina, Delaware, the United Kingdom and Pennsylvania, they ultimately settled and retired in Jupiter, where they lived for more than 20 years.
Upon their retirement, and with her welcoming smile and twinkle in her eye, Gail spent the majority of her life as an adoring mother and grandmother while living in Jupiter and summering in Rehoboth Beach. She found enjoyment in reading, photography, and spending time at the beach with family and good friends.
Gail is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Marvin Yates, who passed in late December 2022; and her daughter Kimberly Lynn Yates, formerly of Kennett Square, Pa. She is survived by her two daughters, Beverly Yates Walter of North Stonington, Conn., and Michelle Yates Reckert of Cary, N.C. She is also survived by sons-in-law, Thomas H. Walter, DPM, of North Stonington, and Peter A. Reckert of Cary; and her four grandchildren, Brittany Walter Woods (Matthew R. Woods) of Mansfield, Mass., Justin Thomas Walter of Pawcatuck, Conn., Paige Reckert Happ (Tyler J. Happ) of Cary, and Hope Kimberly Reckert of Cary. Gail was blessed with her first great-granddaughter, Reese Mae Woods of Mansfield, in early 2022.
A private Memorial Service and interment will be held with close family.
