Before the end of the 2021-22 school year, Mariner Middle School students in Alison Herman and Amanda Kilby’s core 3 class had been enjoying some beautiful days outside to read.
While outside, students and staff noticed unused planters that could use some fixing up.
Kilby provided flowers and herbs from Bella Terra Landscape, Pepper’s Greenhouse, and Garden Center, each providing a discount. Students took turns weeding, planting and watering the garden, and they even got to smell and taste some herbs.
“It makes for a nice presentation in front of the school, and the students were happy to be a part of the experience,” Herman said.
