Garden Shack Farm introduces landscaping services

Customers can now request installments for purchased shrubs and trees
July 12, 2023

Garden Shack Farm, a local greenhouse garden and farm, sells a variety of plants, from perennials and annuals to trees and shrubs. Along with its many services, Garden Shack Farm now offers landscaping by customer request.

Located at 19884 Beaver Dam Road near Lewes, Garden Shack Farm began business in 2014. Owners Tom and Laura Kucharik started with one small greenhouse. Since then, the business has grown, and they now have a large greenhouse with a wide variety of locally grown plants.

With the help of their children, Will and Elena Kucharik, family friend Larry O’Donnell and their dog Buddy, Garden Shack Farm is able to grow almost all of its plants on site with the exception of larger shrubs and trees, which are bought from local growers.

Plants available for purchase include perennials, annuals, vegetables, trees, shrubs, succulents and more. All plants on the farm are native and grow well in the Delmarva area. Upon customer request, the farm offers installation services for purchased shrubs and trees.

If new homeowners are unhappy with the landscaping by their builder, or customers simply need their plant installed, Garden Shack Farm is happy to help with landscaping services.

Their goal is to help customers decorate their homes in the way they desire.

“We will consult with customers, and I’m more than happy to go meet with them to make sure that everything goes in the right place,” Tom said.

Prior to owning Garden Shack Farm, Tom worked in the landscaping business for several years. As he is knowledgeable about landscaping services and understands how the plants on the farm will grow and what they will look like in the future, he is qualified for plant installations.

Along with landscaping, Garden Shack Farm has many other services for future plant owners.

Customers can save themselves a trip by visiting the website, which has the full garden inventory. By doing this, customers can develop an idea of what they want before they come to the store.

The website is user-friendly and set up for those who are not knowledgeable about plant life. Future plant parents can receive a plant education as they shop, as each plant is organized by shade requirements, plant types, seasons and more.

“All of our inventory is on our website. You can do a search for a plant, you can search for whether or not it’s a native, if it's sun or shade, if it likes wet soil, or if you’re looking for a particular kind of plant, you can find it on the website,” Laura said.

Garden Shack Farm also offers local delivery services. For customers who live in the Lewes, Milton, Rehoboth Beach, Harbeson, Dewey Beach, Millsboro and Georgetown areas, Garden Shack Farm can deliver plants for a small fee of $9.99 during the spring/summer seasons.

To dodge the delivery fee, customers can preorder plants in the off-season for free delivery when the plants are ready.

If a customer knows in the wintertime what kind of plant they want to add to their collection when the growing season comes around, they can go online to the Garden Shack Farm website to preorder their plant.

Garden Shack Farm will then plant the product to ensure the order is ready during its blooming season.
