Gayle C. Wheeler, lived a full life
Gayle C. Wheeler, 57, of Milford, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, at Bayhealth Hospital after a battle with pneumonia.
Gayle was born March 6, 1966, to June (Goodyear) and Colby Wheeler of Camden. She graduated from Indian River High School in 1984. Gayle went on to study at Maine Community College in Portland and Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, where she received a bachelor's degree in marketing.
Gayle lived in several places throughout her lifetime including York, Maine, Meredith, N.H., Lewes, and Charleston, S.C. She returned to her home state of Delaware in 2020, making Milford her home.
Gayle’s career was mainly in newspaper publishing and sales. She currently was employed by Community Integrated Services in Milford as a business development specialist, where she immensely enjoyed working with her participants and found it very rewarding. Gayle loved all animals, especially cats, and adored her two cats, Winston and Jaxon. She will forever be remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit. Gayle could make any situation laughable, which endeared her to many.
Gayle was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Dean Wheeler of York, Maine. While Gayle never married, she lived a full and vibrant life with more friends than you could count. Among them are her lifelong friends, Susan Austin of Milford, and Maria Sportelli of Milford, whom she considered family.
Per Gayle's wishes, there will be no service. A celebration of life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, at Arena's in Milford. All are welcome to attend.
Instead of flowers, donations may be made to Brandywine Valley SPCA, or an animal rescue of choice.
