George E. Brown III, Army veteran
George E. Brown III, 76, of Lewes, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, at his home. He was born Aug. 16, 1947, in Staten Island, N.Y., son of the late George E. Jr. and Yvonne Brown.
George was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1967-70, and worked as a combat engineer in the Don Ten and Mecan Delta regions. He achieved the rank of E-5 by 1973 when he was honorably discharged.
He married Nancy Wurster April 19, 2002, a date which Nancy would always have a hard time remembering, and George made sure she would never forget. He was employed as a transportation mechanic, which he really enjoyed. George also loved working with wood and using his creative side. More importantly, he treasured spending time with his family and friends. George will be greatly missed and forever loved by all the lives he touched.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister, Marie-Louise Brown. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Wurster-Brown; his daughter, Nancy Marie Rosefeldt (Michael); grandchildren, Fiona and Eliza; his brother, Douglas Brown and sister-in-law Carolyn Brown; his nephews, Derek and Cooper Brown; his cousins, Sheila Benoit (Phil), Catherine O'Reilly (Frances), Terry (Randi) O'Reilly, Timothy O'Reilly (Tracey) and Jacqueline Young.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 4, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends and family may visit beginning at 10 a.m.
