George J. Walsh, devoted to family

George J. Walsh, 73, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 26, at his home in Lewes. 

During his lifetime, he was a loving and supportive father, husband, and friend. Early in his career, George served as a detective for the Wilmington Police Department. George went on to open a few small businesses and worked in corporate security and fraud after leaving the police department.

His favorite pastimes included spending time with all the children in his life, teaching them how to swim, playing Mario Kart for "fun hours," and going out to the boardwalk with his friends and family. 

George is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Carmen D Walsh; his daughter, Carmen "Boofer" Delcampo; his stepchildren, Theresa Stover (Rick) and Coleen Fitzpatrick; as well as his five grandchildren, Sean Fitzpatrick his wife Catherine Fitzpatrick, Anna Stover, Josh Elrod, Sadie Stover and Eli Stover; and his great-grandson, Brooks Fitzpatrick. Also, surviving are his brother, Martin Walsh; brother-in-law, Robert DelCampo (Bertie); sisters-in-law, Edna D. Shaw (Reggie) and Judy DelCampo; as well as several nieces, nephews and family friends.

A private celebration of life at a later date as a way to reflect on his life.
