Georgetown DMV techs honored

April 6, 2015

Inspection technicians from Georgetown Department of Motor Vehicles were recognized March 8 for their heroic actions in saving the life of Joseph Trunzo at the Georgetown DMV office.

The accident occurred when Trunzo pulled his RV into the inspection lane and exited his vehicle, which didn't have a drivers door, to ask a question. The RV started rolling and Trunzo tried to physically stop the vehicle. The RV continued and pinned Trunzo to the wall.

The inspection technicians quickly entered the vehicle through a window and placed the RV into reverse while other techs gently lowered Trunzo to the ground and called 911. He suffered several broken ribs and pelvis and other fractures.

On hand for the recognition were Delaware state troopers, DelDOT Secretary Jennifer Cohan and Gov. Jack Markell.
