Gladys J. Reynolds, dedicated to helping others

June 5, 2023

Gladys J. Reynolds went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 1, 2023. She spent her last days in this world at home surrounded by her loving family.

Gladys was born Nov. 10, 1937, to the late Delmer and Gladys Jefferson in Milton. She graduated from Milton High School in 1955 and married Norman Reynolds in 1959. They were happily married for 63 years. She was a devoted wife and mother whose life's work was helping others. She was a homemaker who raised her children, Kenny and Rhonda, and lovingly provided care for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the O’Neil children. She was a member of Ellendale United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where she held the position of church secretary for many years and played in the bell choir. Gladys was a faithful companion to her husband, Norman, and accompanied him to every wedding and church service, where he played the organ. She and Norman enjoyed traveling, attending NASCAR events, dining out and shopping for special treasures. She was a volunteer in the gift shop of Milford Memorial Hospital for over 25 years.

She will be sadly missed by her son, Kenny and his wife Mandy; her daughter, Rhonda and her husband Mickey Thompson; her grandchildren, Brian Reynolds, Brad and Ashley Reynolds, Sydney Reynolds, Jeff Perry, Joey and Alli Perry, Zach and Emily Allen, Matt Thompson, Jeremy Thompson, Max Thompson, and Abby; and her great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Beau, Autumn, Joseph, Stevie, Declan, Asa and Jacob.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Friday, June 9, at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, with a visitation from 11 a.m. to noon. Burial will be held at St. John’s Church Cemetery in Georgetown.
