Goode deserves votes for what she’s done

August 6, 2024

Rehoboth is a super special place to my family and has been for the decades that we’ve been part of the summer story of the town. Many years ago, I had the good fortune to meet Suzanne Goode, and my admiration for her has only grown across the time I’ve known her. She is selfless in her pursuit of the best answers, and she puts the time in that’s required to make sure she has responsibly examined all sides of important issues so that when she lands on the answer, it is born from confidence and control of real facts, not some secondhand notions passed around like candy for the folks who can’t think for themselves. She actually does the work, absorbs the details and goes to bat for the rational and reasonable answer, no matter the noise thrown at her by the clucking class vested in their own causes and agenda. For that, we should be grateful that she has undertaken a campaign for commissioner to represent all of us, and why I’m delighted to be strongly advocating for her election!

It’s rare to find someone who has the tenacity to withstand withering criticism from the powers that be who are content to run things the way they want, regardless of what you want. Interestingly, the two men in the race – who if successful would round out a commission comprised totally of seven similar men, absent any female voices – both seem to be strongly backed by the collection of has-beens, former commissioners, longtime committee folks appointed by this mayor to the various planning, adjustment and other boards, and other insiders who people derisively refer to as the old guard. And yes, despite their periodic protests, that group does exist and they seem to thrive on controlling the agenda in Rehoboth for their own benefits, and not for yours. We’ve seen their million-dollar mistakes, and it’s time for that to stop. This is the chance – and this is the woman – to set Rehoboth on a different and far better course. Suzanne Goode deserves our votes, and we deserve her energy and investment for our future.

We’ve seen Suzanne stand up for what’s right, and we’ve seen the other candidates be nowhere on the field when it mattered. What good is experience that has never been put to use for people before, and what makes us think magically they’ll put it to use for your benefit now? Pay attention to who’s backing whom, and when the old guard throws some shiny new faces on a ballot, make no mistake, they intend same old, same old to carry the day. Suzanne is a breath of fresh air and has our interests as hers. That’s why on Saturday, Aug. 10, Suzanne Goode deserves our votes for what she’s actually done, not just for a phantom promise of things to come. Vote Goode for Rehoboth, and let’s finally get a commissioner for us all!
