Goonies-Fest to benefit Beebe Healthcare Aug. 24

August 10, 2024

Revival House will host Goonies-Fest, an outdoor celebration to benefit Beebe Healthcare, starting at 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, at Hudson Fields near Milton.

Families and film buffs attending will enjoy an array of food trucks and vendors, live music, games and activities for children, and a screening of the beloved 1985 Steven Spielberg-produced classic, “The Goonies,” slated to begin at dusk.

Goonies-Fest is the fifth in Revival’s annual series of events to benefit Beebe, following Batman Fest, Jaws Fest, Jurassic Fest and Star Wars Fest. Each festival has ended with an outdoor showing of one of the classic movies in each franchise.

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local institutions, The Revival House has organized Goonies-Fest to be free to the public, encouraging donations and participation to benefit Beebe Healthcare’s vital services.

Local musician Cliff Hillis will take the stage with former bandmate John Feifer, both formerly of Tisra Til, a staple of the beach music scene in the 1990s.

Revelation Brewery has crafted a beer exclusively for the event, the Truffle Shuffle, a sour beer infused with peaches, blackberries and marshmallows.

“We’re excited to bring the community together for a nostalgic night of fun and film while supporting a great cause,” said Revival House co-founder Rob Rector. “Goonies-Fest is a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy a classic film, engage in entertaining activities and contribute to the important work of the staff at Beebe.”

Co-founder Rob Waters said, “We are always excited to see families enjoying themselves for these events, and this one’s not only a favorite film from my childhood, but having Cliff Hillis perform is particularly poignant, as he performed at our very first event years ago at the Milton Theatre.”

Attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite character, in pirate attire or even in ‘80s fashion. Guests should bring their own blankets and/or chairs, and their spirit of adventure to fully enjoy the evening. Donations to Beebe Healthcare will be accepted at the door and throughout the event to support its continuing commitment to provide exceptional care for the community.

“The important thing to know this year is the actual layout of the event. We are going to screen the film on the side of the hangar toward the front of the field and keep the event focused in a particular area to make it easier for all,” said Waters. “So whether you consider yourself a Mikey, Andy, Brand, Stef, Data, Chunk or Sloth, bring your fellow adventurers to Goonies-Fest and ‘never say die.’”
