Gov. Carney visits Lavender Fields

May 28, 2023

As the first stop on a three-county tour of small Delaware businesses May 24, Gov. John Carney was given a tour of Lavender Fields near Milton.

Led by proprietor Marie Mayor, Carney got a rundown of a history of the farm and shown its operations. Besides growing lavender, Lavender Fields uses the harvested plant in a variety of products, including soap, sugar scrubs, bug spray, hand sanitizer and lotion. In addition, the farm has a merchandise store, a full kitchen and dining room for hosting events and an art studio, which sells works from local artists.

Besides Lavender Fields, Carney also stopped at Fifer Orchards in Camden, Tre Sorrelle Dolce in Wyoming and the Mt. Cuba Center in Hockessin.
