A graphic reminder of what January cold snaps can bring
January 1, 2018
This National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) satellite image shows the mid-Atlantic area under a heavy blanket of snow following the weekend snowstorm of Feb. 5 and 6, 2010. The Delmarva Peninsula is clearly articulated between Chesapeake Bay, Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean. The photograph was made only seven years ago but is a reminder that cold snaps like the one currently chilling our region often set us up for major snowfalls in late January and early February.
