To all voters in Sussex County District 3 – you have a critical vote Nov. 5. You have the opportunity to elect Jane Gruenebaum as your county council representative, replacing the current Republican incumbent. I remind everyone that Republicans have had a majority control of county council for a long time. And what have they done to improve our quality of life these past decades?
We all see the unchecked overdevelopment, with building way ahead of smart infrastructure planning. Forests cleared at a record pace. Traffic is a nightmare with tragic consequences. Housing for workers is unavailable or unaffordable for so many. Try finding a new healthcare provider.
Jane is not anti-development; she is for synchronizing growth with infrastructure. With proper planning, she says, “The built environment can live in harmony with the natural environment.” Jane will work with county and state officials on planning for roads and securing affordable housing – which supports workers for healthcare and other services.
County council makes the rules that govern development in Sussex County. Republican-dominated county councils have hidden behind inadequate rules as an excuse, contributing to these poor conditions. As a member of the council, Jane will work to change codes as needed to protect our forests/wetlands/open spaces and incentivize builders “to keep development in balance with elements that promote quality of life.”
It is time to start a change in county council. Its members have the greatest effect on our lives at the local level. Elect Jane Gruenebaum Nov. 5 for Sussex County Council District 3.
