October 28, 2015

Sussex County Habitat for Humanity's Family Services Manager Margaret Reyes was honored by the Delaware Community Reinvestment Action Council with their Board of Directors’ Award. DCRAC’s Executive Director Rashmi Rangan presented the award to Reyes. Reyes continues to advocate for low-income families and affordable housing through her work with SCHFH and DCRAC.

Reyes came to SCHFH in 2012 after retiring from the Department of Fire and Rescue Services in Montgomery County, Md., where she served as a firefighter and EMT. She previously served on the board of directors for La Esperanza Community Center and the Governors Advisory Council on Hispanic Affairs. She also served as the Immigration Committee Chair for the Delaware Domestic Violence Coordinating Council for eight years.

Reyes also travels annually to Guatemala to lead a team helping to build affordable homes as part of Habitat’s Global Village Program. Fluent in Spanish, Reyes is also a dual national, having both Irish and American citizenship.
